Mr. B's Kickin' Molasses Cookies

This recipe is property of Mr. B in its entirety. The author hereby charges a 10% commission on cookies baked. One batch yields about 25 cookies so you must bring in at least 2 cookies as commission.

bullet3/4 Cup Shortening
bullet1 Cup Sugar
bullet1/4 Cup Dark Molasses
bullet1 Egg
bullet2 Teaspoons Baking Soda
bullet2 Cups Sifted Flour
bullet1/2 Teaspoon Ground Cloves
bullet1/2 Teaspoon Ginger
bullet1 Teaspoon Cinnamon
bullet1/2 Teaspoon Salt

Melt shortening in a 4 quart saucepan over low heat. Allow to cool but not coagulate (harden). Then add sugar, egg, and molasses. Beat well. In a separate bowl, sift together flour, baking soda, cloves, ginger, cinnamon, and salt. Add these to the molasses mixture and mix well. Chill thoroughly for a couple of hours. Form into 1 inch balls, roll into granulated sugar and place on cookie sheet approximately 2 inches apart. Bake at 375 degrees for 8-10 minutes. FOR CHEWY COOKIES, take out of oven when cracks have formed and cookies slightly bulge in the center.
