Total Lunar Eclipse - May 15, 2003Mr. Chanyavanich and Mr. Bradley demonstrate the relative positions of the sun, earth, and moon during a lunar eclipse. The sun is the overhead projector shining light onto the earth (black sphere), with the moon behind the earth (purple ball), Students observe the demonstration of a lunar eclipse and listen to the explanation before heading outside to observe the actual event. View of the eclipse from Mt. Laguna. Photo courtesy Thad V'Soske Close up photo of the moon just after totality. Notice the redish color imparted to the moon due to filtration of blue light (shorter wavelength) in the earth's atmosphere. Photo courtesy Thad V'Soske |
